National Maritime Museum, Dún Laoghaire

The National Maritime Museum 

Many decades ago I visited the National Maritime Museum in Dún Laoghaire, south County Dublin.

It was very small, overlooked, little visited, underfunded and yet still delightful.

Today it has moved into different premises at the old Mariners Church on Haigh Terrace, Dún Laoghaire.

The old Church itself and its stained glass windows is quite beautiful while the maritime displays have expanded and enlarged.

The museum has a small cover charge for entrance because it is not part of the National Museum of Ireland and it is run and managed by volunteers.

This part of Dún Laoghaire once had a beautiful Victorian era "Pavillion" alongside an enchanting Duck pond and Lawn Bowls Green.

Somewhere along the way our betters, the planners, decided these needed to be got rid of.

The area is all the poorer for their removal.

Keep the wheels turning and keep in mind the little Maritime museum, it's a hidden gem.

Dún Laoghaire was once called Kingstown in honour of King George, which King George exactly I forget.

Cobh, another important Irish harbour, was likewise once called Queenstown in honour of Queen Victoria.

Call dead or imprisoned American Military War Heros "Losers".

Intuit a Black ex President and his family are Apes.

Abuse the American Military for nefarious financial and familial purposes.

Encourage an assault and an insurrectionist attack on the Nation's Capitol.

Cause through a needless War and unprovoked attack on Iran unnecessary starvation and further impoverishment of Global developing economies and their inhabitants.

Those are the actions of China, its intelligence agencies, the F.S.B. and Russia ........
